JERMYN STREET, LONDON

This central London apartment was completely ripped out on the first day of the project, its renovation included the build of a vaulted hall that runs the length of the space and culminates in a sliding door that reveals an ante room for the bedroom beyond.

Untreated English oak boards, polished plaster and Purbeck marble define the aesthetic for Japanese clients. Bespoke door handles, inspired by the Katsura Imperial Villa outside Kyoto, and wall lights in brass were designed for the project, made by the fifth-generation Carl Auböck workshop in Vienna.

Following the architectural plans by William Smalley we undertook the complete build and finish of the project which included the design of all furniture, down to cutlery, bedlinen and artworks. ‘The Waves’, a weaving by artist Amy Revier, was commissioned for the space, inspired by Virginia Woolf writing in the nearby London Library.
